Schedule I is the most restricted tier of the U.S. Controlled Substances Act — drugs the DEA classes as having no accepted medical use. A physician cannot simply prescribe or order them; a separate DEA researcher registration is required for each compound, tied to specific protocols, with vault-grade storage, DEA inspection and reconciled accountability for every milligram.
